Jake left EastEnders after losing his patience with Ruby, Johnny's daughter, and telling her what he thought of her. As he was walking out of Albert Square, he was confronted by a strange who asked if he was Jake Moon. He hasn't been seen since this moment and it's presumed that he's dead although this hasn't ever been confirmed. It's very possible that this stranger was a member of Johnny's gang.
