What happens in the splice movie?

Two scientists, Clive and Elsa, are a couple who are working to find a protein to cure disease and some types of cancer. They make 2 hybrid creatures mixing different animal's DNA. One female, one male, and when they were put together they bonded with their tongues in an incubator. They look like short chubby caterpillars. Clive and Elsa secretly make one using human DNA, which they were not allowed to by their superiors. It was made using Elsa's DNA. This one turned out female and it was larger than the other two hybrids and it was more intelligent. They decided to name her Dren (nerd backwards). It eventually starts growing and looking more human-like, with a tail that has a poisonous stinger. No one knows about Dren's existence except Clive and Elsa.

The other scientists decide to show their experiments to the public, and displayed the two original creatures in a glass rectangular box. When the barrier between the two was removed, both creatures approached each other and revealed their stingers from their mouths and brutally started stabbing each other. Both creatures died. It turned out that the female creature turned into a male. Due to this accident the project was going to be shut down, so Clive and Elsa had to move Dren somewhere else. They took her to Elsa's mother's farm. By this point, Dren had fully matured into a woman, except she has a venomous stinger tail, wings, and can breathe underwater.

Elsa puts Dren to sleep. Clive and Elsa then start having sex in the next room, but Dren wakes up and watches them secretly. A few days later, Clive enters the barn alone and Dren sneaks up behind him, when he turns around she kisses him. They end up having sex. Elsa interrupts right before Dren was unknowingly about to stab Clive with her stinger. Elsa finds out that Dren is a dangerous creature after Dren killed her pet cat with her stinger. Elsa knocks her out with a shovel and ties her up to a table. She then cuts off Dren's tail. She gives the tail to her superiors and says that she found the protein. When Elsa got back, Dren started getting sick, she ends up dying.

Clive and Elsa bury her and burn all her stuff. Elsa's boss and another scientist arrive at the farm and want to know what the tail belonged to. They tell him that it already died and if they want the body it's behind the shed buried. All of a sudden Dren flies by and picks off Elsa's boss into the forest. The group chases Dren but they find the boss's dead body in a tree. They hear vicious noises all around them and Dren again flies and picks off the scientist who came with the boss. Clive drops his flashlight into a pond and reaches in to get it but Dren pulls him under, a few seconds later he gets out and passes out on the ground. Elsa tries to pull him up but Dren emerges from the water. We see here that Dren has become a male, just like the other hybrid. Elsa starts running but Dren catches her and rapes her. Right when he finishes, Clive stabs Dren with a stick from behind. Dren falls down and starts gasping for air. Elsa picks up a big rock and is about to drop it on Dren's head but hesitates. Dren stabs Clive with her tail, he dies instantly. Then Elsa drops the rock on Dren's head.

A few months have passed, Elsa is signing paper work to work on another project. She stands up and is pregnant. The movie ends with the last line said by Elsa: "What's the worst that can happen".

• A couple, working for a company called NERD, creates a human-animal hybrid w/o the company's knowledge by splicing (hence the name) multiple genes together. They raise this child to teenagedom, and name her Dren. at work they are raising another two hybrids sans human genetics. During a presentation that the human couple raising dren gave, the two hybrids, rather than mating, attack each other rather gorily. They later find out that one of the two hybrids changed genders. They then move dren to a big barn where she is bored. Dren develops wings; in the same breath falls in love with Clive, the husband. She looks strangely like Dakota fanning. Then Elsa, the wife, finds out and gives dren gory surgery on a table without any anesthesia. Dren gets angry, changes genders, kills Clive, and rapes Elsa. the end.
