No. In the novel, 'The Boy In The Striped Pajamas', it is not implied that Maria, Bruno's family's maid, is Jewish. Evidence of this is on page 59 of 'The Boy In The Striped Pajamas.' It says "Maria's eyes opened wide and she took a step towards him, her hands covering her mouth for a moment in horror. She looked round to make sure no one was listening to them and had heard what Bruno said. 'You must not say that,' she said. 'You must never say something like that about your father.'"

Also, in one more place, she says "because your father is a good man."

Of course she is.  A Jewish maid would not be at liberty to say what she really thinks.  Could a Jew say Father is a bad man?  Not if she wants to live.

If Maria was a Jew she would be in the camp with other Jews and tortured like the rest. She is just the family maid she is paid for what she does and isn’t treated badly in sli

Does pavel die in the The Boy in the Striped Pajamas?

**SPOILER**Yes. When serving wine at a dinner table and spills it, Kurt Kotler beats him then kills him with a bullet.Following from Brookiemonster: (correct answer!!)Actually, in the book Pavel doesn't die but he isn't mentioned again - the reader is not even told what happens. Instead the reader is forced to make conclusions based on the fact that, due to our prior knowledge, we know that he beats him up and since he is not mentioned again we PRESUME that he is dead - we don't actually know!
