i am still unsure but i have heard that it was named by king george 3rd of England in honor of his German lands, the duchy of brunswick-lunenberg infromation i have retrieved is from http://www.nationsencyclopedia.com/Canada/Alberta-to-Nova-Scotia/New-Brunswick.HTML i find it a wonderful site and i have gotten past information for previous history projects in the past. hopefully this gives you a little more information you have been asking for
