Slade's real interest in them is his irritating child Robin.

The goal in the comic books is just..

Well..

It's hard to understand. Slade, in itself.. all his life was never evil. Up to one point. From the moment his wife left him, and he lost his son.. he was a little.. what's the word.. scarred?

Anyways, he devised a plan to get his son back but there was this big war with Batman and he ended up killing him, which explains the beginning of the teentitans show, "Go!" When Robin shows up saying, I work alone now.

In the next one, "Final Exam.", Slade makes sure the message is delivered which is him saying, Who is Slade? He wants his son back.

At first, it was that. Then his goal picks up when his love interest comes up, Terra.. who's much less amazing in the show. He decides to go back to his original plans he had with his original wife which was to have full and complete domination, ruling with his wife at his side, and his son, Robin.

As tough as he appears to be, he's quite the softy..

In truth.. it's really hard to understand.. and the way I'm describing it is probably making it come off differently. In all, he wants a family with high rank. He really wants his son back. He really wants domination. He really wants Terra.

But in order for you to really understand it.. you need to read the books.

It's put much nicer in the books..

as an interesting side-note, "He really wants Terra.";in the original comic-books, slade & terra had a sexual relationship.. guess that was too adult-ish for Warner Bros...
