yes there was in 2007 and possibly 2008 (scoot on)
The current record for distance unicycled backwards in one day is 53 miles.
There are quite a few: Trials: For jumping onto stuff Muni / Rough Terrain: Mountain unicycling Touring: Large wheels, and are used as transportation Giraffe: The tall unicycles with chains Impossible wheel: has no seat
There can be no reliable statistics - think of any hobby and think if people doing it are registered statistically. For instance: A friend of mine recently took up unicycling as a hobby, he bought a second-hand unicycle. His activity is not recorded anywhere.

its just a question of balance, 2 wheels should give enough grip on a track, but its lighter than a quad. where as one, would be impossible to ride - although a unicycling motocross bike would be interesting to see. http://www.dirtbikefanatic.com/dirt-bikes.html
It is thought that back when penny farthings were around, their riders kept on finding that their back wheel was coming off the ground. Eventually they just gave up on them entirely and took them off. Search up some pictures of penny farthings if you don't know what they are and you might understand why.

Expression could either refer to something verbal, or something more physical (a facial expression for example). You could tell by the expression on her face, she was not at all impressed with his juggling, or even unicycling talents.Don't be offended, it's just an expression. She offered him an expression of sympathy, as she patted him softly on the shoulder.
