A psychologist would use the scientific method to test a theory, just as any other scientist would.

As patience of the asylum no.... and considering most Psychologists are insane, that is the only time I can for-see them being in an asylum.

Psychologists typically work during regular business hours, which are usually days, but their schedules can vary based on their specific roles and settings. Those in private practice may have more flexibility, while clinical psychologists in hospitals or emergency settings may work nights or weekends. Additionally, some psychologists who conduct research or teach may also have more traditional daytime schedules. Ultimately, the hours depend on the psychologist's work environment and individual preferences.
Testing experimentally a hypothesis is the last step.
empirical approach
Psychologists and psychiatrists offer IQ testing or at the very least can direct you to IQ testing centers.
Psychiatrists are medical practictioners who treat conditions of the psyche while psychologists are concerned with the theory and science behind those conditions. But they both provide therapy for patients.

The rag doll method and the dish method
A scientific theory summarizes a hypothesis or group of hypotheses that have been supported with repeated testing. If enough evidence accumulates to support a hypothesis, it moves to the next step; known as a theory; in the scientific method and becomes accepted as a valid explanation of a phenomenon.
False. A scientific theory can be disproven if new evidence or observations contradict it. The strength of a scientific theory lies in its ability to withstand rigorous testing and scrutiny; however, it remains open to revision or rejection based on new data. This is a fundamental aspect of the scientific method, which emphasizes continual questioning and testing.
Psychologists use observation to directly watch and record behavior, case studies to examine in-depth information about a specific individual or group, and testing to measure and assess behavior through standardized assessments. By combining these methods, psychologists can gather comprehensive data to better understand and analyze behavior.
In the general, every day sense of the word a theory is a supposition, a hunch or a speculation. It is unproven.A Scientific Theory is completely different from an every day theory. A scientific theory summarizes a hypothesis that has been supported with repeated testing and with facts that can be observed and/or measured. With that support a hypothesis moves to the next step in the scientific method and becomes accepted as a valid explanation of a phenomenon. Facts are the framework for the scientific method and a Scientific Theory is supported by facts.
A theory is an idea and hypothesis which explains some things. Practice is an exercise and application of any task or theory or in other words translation of an idea into action. On the lighter side: Theory is where you know everything but nothing works. Practice is where everything works but nobody knows why. My wife/husband combines both Theory and Practice. Nothing works and nobody knows why.
