Its the principle that animals (including humans) bond most with those that alternately are kind and cruel to them.

The experiment used monkeys in 3 groups.

  1. Group 1 were just treated cruelly by their surrogate mother
  2. Group 2 were just treated kindly by their surrogate mother
  3. Group 3 were treated cruelly or kindly, in a random manner

Then the results were:

  1. Group 1 had no bond
  2. Group 2 had a normal bond
  3. Group 3 had the strongest bond

These (worrying) results imply that the strongest allegiance is obtained by being capriciously cruel and kind, like some barbaric tyrant.

Additional notes:

(a) I do not know if that 3rd group had also become neurotic, which is what you would expect.

(b) I don't know if this has also been related to the Stockholm syndrome in terrorist hostages.

What is the fundamental principle of non duality philosophy?

The fundamental principle of non-duality philosophy is the belief that everything in the universe is interconnected and ultimately one, transcending the distinctions we perceive between individual entities.

What school of psychology developed the principle of closure?

The principle of closure was primarily developed within the field of Gestalt psychology. This principle suggests that the mind tends to perceive incomplete figures or forms as complete by filling in gaps.

What principle states that the wave and particle aspects of both matter and radiation are necessary parts of the whole?

The principle you are referring to is the wave–particle duality principle, which suggests that particles such as electrons exhibit both wave-like and particle-like properties. This concept is a fundamental aspect of quantum mechanics.

What is the fundamental principle of non dual philosophy?

The fundamental principle of non-dual philosophy is the belief that everything in the universe is interconnected and ultimately one, transcending the duality of opposites such as good and bad, right and wrong.

In what fields is the term duality relevant?

Duality is a term which refers to two principles or things which share common constituents. It may also refer to a thing being in two parts. Duality is a term used in Physics, Psychology, Mathematics, and Philosophy. Many other fields use the term, as well. Even the motion picture industry uses the term.

What is a principle of light?

The main principle of light in quantum physics is its duality. That by certain ways of measuring it it is a wave. Then by means of measuring its' physical properties it is a particle. Go Figure.

Examples of yin?

The Yin and Yang is a concept of duality that combines into a whole. Yang is active or the male principle while Yin is receptive and the female principle. Examples of Yin are the moon, south of a river and the shady side of a hill.

Why do scientists believe in the principle of superposition?

Scientists believe in the principle of superposition because it is supported by experimental evidence. It accurately describes the behavior of particles at the microscopic level, particularly in the realm of quantum mechanics. This principle is essential for understanding phenomena such as interference patterns and wave-particle duality.

Is light a set of waves or a stream of particles?

Light is both a wave and a particle. It exhibits wave-like properties such as interference and diffraction, as well as particle-like properties such as energy quantization and momentum. This duality is described by the wave-particle duality principle in quantum mechanics.
