Sandstone
Shale is formed as a result of many processes. The first process involves the weathering and erosion of existing silicate rock, usually igneous or metamorphic in nature, and what would normally appear in a weathering mountain range. The weathering of this rock creates clay and silt sized particles which are transported down slope by the erosion from wind, moving water, gravity, and ice. These small particles are carried the farthest from their point of origin, and settle out from suspension in the water or wind in a process known as deposition. As more and more sediment layers are added over great lengths of time, the particles of sediment are compacted by the weight from above and the clay particles become loosely interlocked into a rock with thin depositional layering - shale.

An early maturing, medium sized ans yellow skinned variety of Muskmelon grown in Maharashtra is called Suvarnakanya.
No, sandstone is not a pure substance. Sandstone is a mixture of eroded rock particles (grains of sand) that have been put under pressure over millions of years until they have formed a solid (sandstone) rock layer.Sandstone is a sedimentary rock, mainly of sand-sized mineral particles or rock fragments. Sandstone is mainly composed of quartz or feldspar.
Siltstone is a sedimentary rock composed of cemented silt-sized particles of quartz and feldspar, primarily.
No. Ash consists of sand sized particles and smaller. Pebble sized particles are called lapilli.
Sandstone will have a gritty clastic texture, created by the cemented particles of sand sized particles of rock. You should be able to see the individual sand grains.
No. Pebble-sized particles from a volcano are called lapilli. Ash is sand-sized or smaller.
Sedimentary rock is composed of a variety of sediments, ranging from clay sized particles to boulders, which have been compacted and cemented together. Chemical sedimentary rocks can be principally composed of precipitated calcite, gypsum or halite. Organic sedimentary rock can consist of shells or partially decomposed plants.
It depends on how you are defining the word 'soft'. Quartzite is the hardest and most durable of the three - no question there. Shale can be crumbled with the tap of a hammer. Some loosely cemented sandstone can be crumbled when squeezed hard enough with your hand and some is well cemented and quite hard.
sandstone
Yes, it is called outwash.
If the sedimentary rock contains angular gravel sized (> 2mm) sediment it is called a brecciia. If the gravel is rounded it is called a conglomerate.
Yes. It is made out if clay. The difference between just clay and shale is that the shale consists of compacted clay. Because of compaction, the clay particles (which are flaky) tend to align themselves resulting in varying degrees of fissility. If shale is even more compacted, it will turn into a slate, which is no longer a sedimentary but a metamorphic rock.
