"Several children accuse Elly Kedward of luring them into her home to draw blood from them. Kedward is found guilty of witchcraft, banished from the village during a particularly harsh winter and presumed dead. By midwinter all of Kedward's accusers along with half of the town's children vanish. Fearing a curse, the townspeople flee Blair and vow never to utter Elly Kedward's name again."
The Blair Witch is a fictional character. However, she is based on the actual happenings of 'The Bell Witch'
The Blair Witch and 'myth' surrounding its story base are entirely fiction. It was made to seem real as hype to get more people to see the movie; and to scare them speechless. The Blair Witch was loosely inspired by the myth surrounding the happenings of the Bell Witch.

The Blair Witch is just a ficitional character, although, there actually is a town called Blair.
According to author and Oz series originator Lyman Frank Baum [May 15, 1856-May 5, 1919], there originally were four wicked witches who terrorized the beautiful, enchanted, magical land of Oz. They were the Wicked Witches of the East, North, South, and West. Glinda the Good and another unnamed Good Witch managed to take over the rule of the Red Quadling Country of the South, and of the Blue Munchkin Country of the North, respectively. So Baum's story began with two good witches, and two wicked witches. Close to the beginning of the book, the Wicked Witch of the East was killed when Dorothy's farmhouse landed on her. A bit more than midway through the story, the Wicked Witch of the West was killed when Dorothy threw a bucket of water on her and melted her into nothingness. So the story ended with no wicked witches, and two good witches of the South and of the North.

The witches' Sabbath is often portrayed as the climax of a story because it represents a dramatic confrontation between the forces of good and evil. It is a pivotal moment where the protagonist's moral compass is tested and the ultimate outcome of the story is determined. The intensity and darkness of the witches' Sabbath also serve to heighten the tension and suspense of the narrative.
No that story was based on the Jersey Devil tale.
You mean the story about the woman with the chestnuts, right? The witches were able to make her husband's life miserable, but were unable to kill him. The incident shows that they can be vindictive and punish someone far beyond the seriousness of the offence.
