The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), best known for conducting the annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony, is an organization made up of journalists and photographers who report on the U.S.-based entertainment industry for print, television, and digital outlets outside of the Unites States.
The HFPA was founded in 1943 by foreign journalists based in Los Angeles who wanted a more organized way to distribute movie news to other countries. Membership meetings are held monthly, and a maximum of only five journalists may be admitted to the HFPA each year.
