The Mont-Saint-Michel is a world heritage site in Normandy. The Mount is a steep hill just a few yards away from the coast. At the top of the mount there are a monastery and a beautiful church, both impressive. The sights are renowned and the Mount is one of the most popular sites for tourists (either French or from foreign countries) in France, drawing millions of visitors each year. The bay is also famous for the speed of the tide there ("as fast as a galloping horse").
