The Oz Project is the name of an endeavor that's documented at the following website: www.ozproject.egtech.net. It was started by Blair Frodelius of Air Gap Firewalls. He spent a year compiling a list of all of the books known to have been written by, or associated with, Lyman Frank Baum [May 15, 1856-May 6, 1919]. The information on the site is organized by author, illustrator, publisher, title, and year.
First of all, it's The Wizard of Oz. I believe every child should see the movie as a kid. BUT NO IT IS NOT A TRUE STORY. First of all, you should research before you answer questions.. Yellowbrickroad is NOT the Wizard of Oz. And no, it is not a true store no more than the Blair Witch Project was true, it's just a movie.
It happens often that a novel or play will be re-set in place and time by writers and movie makers. You may want to get some advice to be sure that your project, if you are planning one, will not violate copyright.

"Project Ozma was a pioneering SETI experiment started in 1960 by Cornell University astronomer Frank Drake, at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory at Green Bank, West Virginia. The object of the experiment was to search for signs of life in distant solar systems through interstellar radio waves. The program was named after Princess Ozma, ruler of the fictional land of Oz, inspired by L. Frank Baum's supposed communication with Oz by radio to learn of the events in the books taking place after The Emerald City of Oz."-Wikipedia "Project Ozma"
Sounds like a really fun project to me. I'm eager to see what you come up with after you do it.
