Credits are to movies as a staff list is to a company or organization. Just as movie credits acknowledge the contributions of the cast and crew, a staff list recognizes the individuals who play various roles within a workplace. Both serve to highlight the collaborative efforts that contribute to a final product, whether it be a film or a project within a company.

I don't know what the song is, but I'm willing to bet that if you watch the credits closely you'll find the song listed in them. This is usually the case with opening and closing music on most shows and movies. The reason the term "Credits" is used for that long scrolling list of names and titles is because its (the list's) whole purpose is so everyone, including the artists who perform music for the show or movie, is acknowledged or given ''credit'' for their contribution to the production of the show.
It varies from film to film; in the imdb list (link below), select "company credits" for each film for detailed information. Movies from 1922 and earlier are in the public domain, however.
