Average salaries vary depending on where you work and for whom. Your level of experience and whether or not you have a client base will also affect your remuneration. Ususally you will be paid a basic salary which could be anywhere from R2500 to R5000 per month. On top of this you could be paid a commission and bonuses. If you work in a hotel or spar, the salary will be higher with little or no commission. You could be tipped by your clientele however.

If you are entrepeneurial and you have access to some funding, then an option would be to work for yourself either in a home based business or as a travel consultant. This can be very lucrative if you align yourself with other complimentary disciplines such as hairdressers. Offering them a referral fee can often build you a large customer base. Another option to increase your earnings would be to become an agent for various products linked to your profession.
