Hamlet has been produced almost continuously since it was written. At any given time there are dozens of productions of it playing somewhere. Nobody could possibly see them all in order to judge. And even if someone could, how would you determine which one is the "best" one? Different equally knowledgeable people have different favourite productions. Different directors, who are usually very knowledgeable about Shakespeare, produce completely different visions. What objective criteria could one use to choose a "best" one?
That would be Hamlet's "To be or not to be..." soliloquy, where Hamlet contemplates suicide.

Hamlets friends are Rosencrantz, Guildenstern and Horation. However throughout the play Rosencrantz and Guildenstern turn against Hamlet (not going to spoil how!) which leads to their downfall. Horation never goes against Hamlet, he is always there for him when Hamlet needs him. Hamlet is the best play by Shakespeare!!
A lot depends on your definition of what a "best play" is. If you take into consideration the practicality of making the play into a production, Hamlet is too long even without conflating the Folio and Second Quarto texts. As a result, it needs to be trimmed for performance. This flaw might cause people to choose another play as the "best" Many people feel that King Lear is as good a play as Hamlet and maybe better. But again, it depends on what standards you are using.
He played Hamlet, and is listed to have been arguably one of the best.
