What is the book Breaking Dawn about?

The setting takes place in Forks, Washington and later Rio de Janeiro. The book is about a girl named Bella who loves a vampire named Edward, whom she later marries and is impregnated by. After Bella and Edward get married, lots of problems arise. For their honeymoon, which takes place in Rio, Edward is afraid of having intercourse with Bella because he doesn't want to hurt her, but they end up going along with it anyways. Two weeks later Bella find out that she is pregnant with a rapid growing, half vampire, half human baby. After discovering this she is sent back to her hometown Forks to stay in the care of Edward's vampire family. Unfortunately not too many people are fond of the child because it's slowly killing Bella and is believed to be demonic and evil. During birth the baby almost kills Bella, but not before Edward is able to turn her into a vampire. Renesme's, the baby, unknown characteristic and power cause the werewolves to attempt to kill the baby, and later on the Vulturi too. The Vulturi is the governing body of the vampires who make all the laws, one law being: No creating Baby vampires. The only reason they made the law was for the better of other vampires and in some ways humans. Since babies cannot be taught they can't learn to hide the fact they're vampires or control their thirst for blood. Fortunately the werewolves leave the baby be and even help the baby when the Vulturi come to destroy it. Alice, Edward's sister, (not biologically) sees the vulture coming in large numbers ahead of time due to her being a physic. She and Jasper, her soul-mate, warn Bella & Edward so they can prepare for the battle that is soon to come. Edward's whole family calls upon family and friends, who are either werewolves or vampires, to help them. In the end they convince the Vulturi that the child is no threat and will not harm people, considering the fact that she eats human food too. So Bella, Edward and everyone else live happily ever after.

The book is split into three sections, the first is from Bella's point of view and includes her wedding to Edward Cullen and then her honeymoon on a private island, 17 days after the wedding Bella finds she is pregnant, edward cuts the honeymoon short and insists on an abortion.

the second section is from Jacob's perspective, he finds out that Bella has returned from her honeymoon and is 'ill with an exotic disease' he takes this for her transformation and goes to the cullens. He sees Bella is pregnant and sam wants to kill the unborn child since it is unnatural. Jacob goes against sam and breaks off from the pack and becomes alpha when seth and Leah leave to join him. Jacob's pack vows to protect Bella and the cullens from sam's pack but tries to convince Bella to get rid of the child. Bella gives birth to a girl and thinks Bella is dead, he goes to kill the child but when he sees her he imprints on her, her name is renesmee. a name Bella came up with that includes the names Renee and Esme.

the third section is again from Bella, here she goes through her transformation, her first hunting trip and after refraining from hunting a human the Cullen's introduce her to her daughter renesmee. who has a special power. Bella loves her new life with edward and her child but worries since renesemee grows at an alarming rate, one day while hunting Irina sees renesmee and mistakes her for an immortal child (a vampire child that is forbidden to exist) she goes to the volturi and the responce to immortal children is immediate death for it and those associated with it. The cullens gather friends to prove renesmee is not a full vampire child and Bella discovers she can make mental shields. During the confrontation with the volturi Bella's power makes the volturi's defenceless and they prove renesmee is not a threat, Alice appears with another fully grown hybrid and proves that hybrids are not dangerous, the volturi leave and edward and Bella get their happy ending.
