The capture-mark-and-release method is a wildlife research technique used to study animal populations. In this process, researchers capture a number of animals, mark them in a way that doesn’t harm them, and then release them back into their habitat. After allowing time for the marked animals to mix with the unmarked population, researchers capture another sample to estimate population size based on the proportion of marked to unmarked individuals. This method helps in understanding species abundance, distribution, and behavior.
