A deep valley with steep slopes between two adjacent block mountains is called a rift valley.
An up thrown block between two normal faults dipping away from each other is called a horst
in eastern Africa, mountains extend alongside great rifts.
The Paris Commune of 1871, a radical socialist government, intensified divisions in France by polarizing opinions between the left and right, leading to a backlash against socialist movements. The Dreyfus Affair, which involved the wrongful conviction of a Jewish army officer for treason, further deepened societal rifts by exposing deep-seated anti-Semitism and highlighting the conflict between republican values and militarism. Both events ignited passionate debates about national identity, class struggle, and civil rights, ultimately fracturing French society along ideological lines.
The East African Rift is complex and one of the largest continental rifts on Earth; it extends from north from Lebanon to Ethiopia, running downwards though Kenya from the north to the south. It is slowly splitting the African continent in half. There are fault-lines that stretch outward from this rift, reaching out across the face of African. One fault-line moves westward extending to Lake Nysas. There is one which runs to east-central Africa near the equator and Lake Victoria. The eastern fault-lines include the Great Rift Valley which runs from Syria in south-western Asia, to Mozambique in south-eastern Africa. Another fault-line lays in north-eastern Africa and extends to the Afar Triangle, part of a mid-ocean ridge. There is also a fault-line which runs between the Somalia and Nubia plates.
The French Revolution initially aimed to unite citizens against the monarchy, but it quickly became a source of deep divisions. Ideological rifts emerged between factions such as the Girondins and Jacobins, leading to power struggles and violence, notably during the Reign of Terror. Additionally, class tensions intensified as the revolution's promises of equality and liberty were unevenly experienced, alienating various social groups. These divisions ultimately resulted in a fragmented society, undermining the revolution's original goal of collective unity.
He totally likes Raven! I don't care what anyone else says! Did you see Birthmark, Prophecy, and The End part 1, 2 and 3? And the obvious hints in the other episodes? If not, you totally should watch those five and pay closer attention to when Robin is with Raven. Starfire may like Robin, but too bad! I don't care how they changed him in the movie, it's totally RxR! THEY MAKE SUCH A CUTE COUPLE I beg to differ. Robin and Starfire is PERFECT 4 each other. Have u seen Date with Destiny, Trouble in Tokyo, Stranded, and How long is forever. R + S = LOVE THEY R PURRRFECT 4 EACH OTHER. Ok..... in the comic books Robin is suppose to get together with Starfire...BUT... as much as some ppl would hate to admit it, he shows ALOT more passionate moments and feelings of love with Raven in the tv series..... soooooo it's pretty debatable!

A rift is a crack or opening that forms in the Earth's crust due to tectonic forces pulling the crust apart. Rifts can lead to the formation of new ocean basins or valleys, such as the East African Rift Valley.
Rift valleys occur when continental plates are pulling apart from one another, for example the East African Rift Valley.
It lies in a shallow depression on the plateau between the Western and Eastern Rifts.

Yes, though they are not currently active. Ancient rifts for parts of the river valleys of the St. Lawrence, and Mississippi river valleys as well as the Great Lakes Basin. More recent rifts form the basin and range geography of the southwestern U.S. including the Rio Grande valley.
What you are referring to is the Great Rift Valley, though technically what is in the Middle East is not really part of it. There are in fact three separate rifts, though they are connected.
The Great Rift Valley is one of the largest divergent plate boundary rifts. It is also one of the best known rift valleys The Great Rift Valley is on a plate boundary. The plate boundary is a divergent plate boundary, meaning that the plates are going in opposite directions. As they separate, a gap in between the plates is created, thus forming a valley. In the Great Rift Valley's case, an incredibly large valley is created. It is also a frequently traveled Valley, as there is a highway on one side of the valley and a Masai village is right along the valley. There are many vendors along the cliff-side. Not many other rift valleys are this inhabited. The size, fame, and inhabited features of the Great Rift Valley make it so unique.

Earthquakes come from shifts in tectonic plates of the earth. Some of the rifts between these are in bodies of water.
