The cap badge of the British Parachute Regiment is relatively new as paratroopers did not exist until WW2. So it is a new design that has no historical tradition as common with many of the British regiments.

One source I have says the badge was approved in May 1943.

The badge is a simple design of Wings with a parachute in the center; the parachute being topped by a King's Crown and a Lion on top of the crown. It has a silver finish.

What was the largest cap badge in the British Army?

For WW1-WW2 era and later, the largest regimental cap badge was the Argyle & Sutherland Highlanders. Of course, this was a Scottish regiment within the British Army and it was worn on a Glengarry or Tam O'Shanter and not a standard visor cap.

Can you show the WPG Grenadiers badge from World War 2?

Are you referring to the Winnepeg Grenadier Regiment of Canada? Their badge was a flaming grenade very, very similar to the British Grenadier Guards cap badge. The only difference is a slight variation in the flames.

Did the Cyprus Regiment have a shoulder patch and if so what was it?

The Cyprus Regiment was part of the British Army in WW2. Typically, the British regiments had a regimental cap badge and maybe wore their name on a brass badge or cloth patch on the top of their sleeve. The cap badge was s shield with 2 lions with a scroll underneath it having their name and topped with the King's crown. I'm not sure if they wore a sleeve device. Who has a regimental cap badge with a crown at the top 2 crossed swords in the middle on a circular solid badge from ww1 is it gloucestershire.how can i find a picture?

The Gloucestershire Regiment's cap badge was a Sphinx image sitting on a battle honor EGYPT with a wreath below and the name of the regiment. But the cap badge I found for it was not as you describe at all. There was also a Gloucestershire Yoemanry Regiment that was also known as Royal Gloucestershire Hussars. But the cap badge I found for it was not as you describe at all.I thought maybe the badge you had was a collar device. But again, the Gloucestershire Regiment wore a small Sphinx on their collar. The badge for the Army Personal Training Corps during WW2 was simply crossed swords with a crown mounted above where they crossed.I can't find such a badge. However, during WW1 the British had many different regiments and yeomanry units that only existed for that war.Oh wait! Sometimes cap badges had a backing that was used to attach it. These backings were large round discs. Was the badge you saw attached to a hat? If it was lying by itself, then maybe the circular disc was some type of back plate.+++++++++++I found it!!WW1 Overseas Bronze Badge - Round badge with crossed swords with a wreath around outer edge. Crossed swords in the center with a Crown above them and a 5-pointed Star below it. Across the front is a scroll that reads "OVERSEAS SERVICE". The back is solid with a British style safety pin clasp.I found this on the eBay store of my favorite and most knowledgeable sellers of British and Canadian cap badges. He has one for sale with a PHOTO; list price $25(USD). His ebay seller name is ArticMedals. I'm sure he can explain what this purpose of this badge and maybe know where it was worn. This is not a Cap Badge.Steve, aka Custermen

What is the sign of Indians artillery division?

This may not be the answer you are seeking but... The Indian Artillery Regiment wore a cap badge just like the British Royal Artillery Regiment except it has a Star on top in place of a Crown. Under the Star and above the Cannon is the word INDIA. The motto on the scroll under the Cannon is "IZZAT O IQBAL". (Updated info: I had to check the badge in my collection)

What British cap badge had an eagle as the primary symbol?

14/20 Hussar Regiment - Eagle matches the German eagle, that holds a septer in one claw and an orb in the other with a crown on its head. This badge is identical to the eagle on the WW1 Pickelhaulbe.26 Hussar Regiment - Very similar but has a Banner under it with XVI HUSSARSKings Dragoon Guards - Double-headed eagle with similar items in its claws as above and has a shield on its breast. Each head has a small crown and a larger crown is suspended between them.2nd Dragoons (Royal Scots Greys) - This eagle is a copy of the eagle mounted on the tip of the French flag that was captured at Waterloo. The eagle is perched with its wings almost folded. Eagle rests on a plaque marked WATERLOO and has beneath it a banner with its name.Royal Dragoons - The cap badge for this regiment was not an eagle, however, its collar badges was an eagle very similar to the one for the Royal Scots Greys. This eagle has a laurel wreath hung around its neck and sits on a plaque marked "105". It is reported that this collar badge was sometimes worn as a cap device.Lanarkshire Yoemanry - Double-headed eagle with regiment's name in Title. Also, I think there was a cap badge for the American Eagle Squadron that was worn by the American fliers who joined for the RAF.Custermen

Was the dragon used as a military emblem?

If you consider all countries going back through hundreds of years, I'm sure the dragon was used as an emblem. This is especially true for countries in Asia, but I don't know of any specific examples from there. The British used a lot of symbols of St. George slaying the Dragon. I know this emblem is on some of their medals but I can't think of where it was worn on the uniform. The British had numerous cap badges for each regiment. The regimental cap badge for the Buffs Regiment and the Royal Berkshire Regiment were a dragon. The cap badge for the Dental Corps still includes the head of a Dragon holding a sword in its mouth. The US Army used something like a dragon in some of its heraldry. The Army wore Distinguishing Unit Insignia that were designed for each regiment and battalion. One emblem that was used to donate service in the Philippines was something like a sea dragon.

What is the Royal fusiliers cap badge?

The badge of the Royal Fusiliers (City Of London) is the brass with the basic shape of a flaming grenade with a King's Crown on the base of the flame. In the round body of the grenade is a Tudor Rose with a band around it with the following inscription: HONI SOIT QUI MALY PENSE This was the first British regimental cap badge I obtained for my collection that now totals 120. The modern derviation of this badge is the Royal Regiment of Fusilers. It has the same basic shape but the center may be different. It is made of staybrite material which has a shiny chrome appearance.
