The cap badge of the British Parachute Regiment is relatively new as paratroopers did not exist until WW2. So it is a new design that has no historical tradition as common with many of the British regiments.
One source I have says the badge was approved in May 1943.
The badge is a simple design of Wings with a parachute in the center; the parachute being topped by a King's Crown and a Lion on top of the crown. It has a silver finish.

This may not be the answer you are seeking but... The Indian Artillery Regiment wore a cap badge just like the British Royal Artillery Regiment except it has a Star on top in place of a Crown. Under the Star and above the Cannon is the word INDIA. The motto on the scroll under the Cannon is "IZZAT O IQBAL". (Updated info: I had to check the badge in my collection)

If you consider all countries going back through hundreds of years, I'm sure the dragon was used as an emblem. This is especially true for countries in Asia, but I don't know of any specific examples from there. The British used a lot of symbols of St. George slaying the Dragon. I know this emblem is on some of their medals but I can't think of where it was worn on the uniform. The British had numerous cap badges for each regiment. The regimental cap badge for the Buffs Regiment and the Royal Berkshire Regiment were a dragon. The cap badge for the Dental Corps still includes the head of a Dragon holding a sword in its mouth. The US Army used something like a dragon in some of its heraldry. The Army wore Distinguishing Unit Insignia that were designed for each regiment and battalion. One emblem that was used to donate service in the Philippines was something like a sea dragon.
