The saying 'all about Eve' refers to the world's first woman, Eve, as the source of human woes. Eve and her husband Adam were told by God not to eat of the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. But Eve listened to the sinister serpent's lie that the fruit would give the couple immortality and divine knowledge. She ate of the fruit, and convinced Adam to do likewise. The consequence was the loss of paradise and of immortality, and the introduction of sin and death into the human condition.

Why did the Pilgrims celebrate Halloween?

All Hallows' Eve is the original way of saying Halloween. It's a term to refer to the Eve of All Saints. All Saints' Day falls on November 1st. Neither of those dates were celebrated by the Pilgrims. The Pilgrims considered the dates links with the Roman Catholic Church against which they were dissenters.
