What is the monster's name in Alice in Wonderland?

In the original poem, which appeared in Through the Looking Glass, it is called the jabberwock (without the 'y'.)

In Through the Looking Glass the beast is the Jabberwock. (There is also the less menacing but dangerous Bandersnatch. I wouldn't get friendly with Jubjub birds, either.)

In Tim Burton's 2010 movie it has been renamed the Jabberwocky (with a Y on the end.)
