I am not sure that the book or the movie has a "moral", but I would say the theme is obviously good v. evil, and that good triumphs.

I believe the moral issue of The Lion King stage musical is to find and take your place in the Circle of Life just like Simba has to take his place in the Circle of Life as king of Pride Rock.
What doesn't make it a GREAT film. It's got awesome/ funny song. e.g. Hakuna Matata. It has wonderful characters and most of all it has a moral.
None of the three Lion King movies feature the song, "Stand by Me", which was sung by Timon and Pumbaa. I believe it is seen in one episode of the Timon and Pumbaa TV spinoff series, but then again, I could be wrong.
