Two people who are meant to be to be together will have occurences happening around them, if they look out for those signs they will be together in the end.

----

It's a story of two strangers amid the masses in New York City, their paths collide in the mad holiday rush as they feel a mutual attraction. Despite the fact that each is involved in another relationship, they spend the evening travelling Manhattan. They exchange goodbyes after eating ice cream at the Serendipity 3, then realizing that they both left something at the ice cream bar they went back only to find each other again. They then went to Central Park where they conversed and Jonathan upon seeing Sarah's freckles, mentioned that they look like the constellation Cassiopeia. He then tells the story that Cassiopeia was a very beautiful queen but when the gods got too jealous, they had her stationary in the stars upside down, thus Cassiopeia. At the end of the night, the two are forced into determining some kind of next step.

Jonathan suggests an exchange of phone numbers, Sara having an idea asks Jonathan to write his name and phone number on a $5 dollar bill, while she writes her name and number on the inside cover of a used copy of Love in the Time of Cholera. If they are meant to be together, she tells him, they will find their way back into one each other's life. They then get a glove each from the pair both of them purchased.

5 years passed where Jonathan is at an engagement party with his fiance Halley. Coincidentally Sara comes home to her house where Lars Hammond, a famous musician proposes to her. Before getting married both Jonathan and Sara wander - off New York City and try at least find each other one last time.

Jonathan tries to find out who the mystery girl was by using the time he had scheduled for a bachelor party with his best friend Dean. They try to obtain any contact information by coming back to Bloomingdales where they meet the same salesman (Levy). There they obtain a record of Sara's old address in the receipt. They now traveled to Sara's old house where they meet a painter that had little recollection of Sara as she was only renting one of the rooms prior. Having failed at this attempt, he remembers the ice cream shop that they went to and would like to check the place out another time. But then it's now a bridal shop, at this time Dean suggests that Jonathan quit and accept the inevitable, that they may never see each other again. As for Sara, after receiving the proposal. She asks her best friend Eve to wander around New York. A number of events, largely of repeated "near miss situations" where the two romantic leads almost, but not quite, meet. Where Sara is seen walking in to one door of a building at the exact same instant as that Jonathan walks out of a different door of the same building

Having the thought that they would not meet again, Jonathan receives a grooms gift from Halley, to his surprise it was the same book where Sara wrote her name and number. Jonathan then sets-off and tries to find Sara where he sees someone in her house being intimate with someone. Upon seeing this, Jonathan tells Dean that he wouldn't have wanted to break off what they have and comes back home for the wedding. Sara on the other hand was surprised by Lars following him to New York, there they went around central park where they stargazed. Upon seeing Cassiopeia, Sara realizes that she doesn't want to be with Lars and breaks it off with him but she left her jacket on the benches as this happened.

While the wedding rehearsals, Jonathan is late due to coming off a flight searching for Sara, coincidentally Eve is actually Halley's classmate in college and gets invited to the wedding. Sara then set off for home when she did not want to come with Eve. At the airplane Sara was asked if she wanted a headset, to her surprise, her wallet got mixed up with Eve's. She then pays the stewardess $5 for the headset, there she sees the same $5 bill which Jonathan wrote on 5 years earlier.

Sara then exited the plane to search for Jonathan, to her shock Jonathan's neighbours advises her that he's getting married on the same day. She then rushes to the hotel only to see a man cleaning up the stools. She was in tears until the man said that the wedding was called off. Sara then accompanies Eve to cab, on her way home, as it gets chilly she then remembers the jacket she left off at the park.

Jonathan wandering around as well was at Central Park, wanting to lie-down, he saw a jacket and used it as a pillow (The jacket that was left by Sara). As the first snowflake drops, the other pair of the glove floats to him and in his peripheral vision, he saw Sara. There they introduce themselves to each other formally for the first time. The film concludes with Sara and Jonathan at Bloomingdales enjoying champagne on a similar time where they first meet.

It is about Jonathan's search for the woman he met accidentally while buying a present for his girlfriend. The two of them hit it off at once, and he feels she may be his soulmate. She believes in fate, and tells him that if they're meant to be together, they'll meet again. She won't even tell him her name, but writes her name and phone number in a book and tells him she will sell it to a used bookstore so that whenever he passes a bookstore, he'll have to go inside and see if it's there. He writes his name and phone number on a five dollar bill and she spends it, saying if it's meant to be, she'll find the bill again.

This is a great little movie with a lot of laughs. If you like romantic comedy, watch Serendipity.
