the movie is about a man named Charles Lee Ray who one day was killed by a cop and transfered himself into a good guy doll. one day a boy named Andy gets him and soon enough Chucky tells his secret to Andy. Chucky first kills Andy's babysitter Maggie which then is investigated. the mother and cop begin to search for Chucky frantically before he is able to transfer his soul into Andy. in the end Chucky is melted and dismembered in the toy factory and shot in the heart. of course he keeps coming back though hint all the other movies...:)

Child's Play is about a murderer named Charles Lee Ray that transfers his soul into the body of a doll. The doll is given to a young boy as a birthday gift. Charles aka Chuckie possesses the doll and makes it come alive; move about, walk, talk, and kill most anyone he comes in contact with. All in the efforts to exact revenge on those that have wronged him, and to try to transfer his soul into the body of the young boy's before his soul becomes trapped in the doll forever.
