The 3.8 is a good engine. You can expect 30mpg on the highway. I think are are a lot of variables to consider before putting a number on the mpg. Such as, is it tuned up properly include de-carboning and fuel injectors clean, driving habits, outdoor temperature, proper air inflation, tires filled with air or nitrogen, fuel used to name a few aspects, there are many more to consider. Yes, many variables, biggest being how heavy your right foot is. If driven like a police cruiser is behind you, expect 17-18 MPG city, and approx 28-30 MPG highway. Higher speeds have a small effect on highway mileage, but you can drop city mileage to 13 or worse with a heavy foot. Also the higher the milage you get the worse you'll get. My 91 park ave has 276,000 miles and I get about 25 mpg on the highway with a 70mph average.
