On that topic: Technically he did make an appearnce, but it was in his mysterious jutsu thing that was purposely supposed to conceal his face for drama. In total there are 220 episodes of Naruto then the shippuuden starts and the episode we're on is 203. they quit showing naruto for now and cartoon network said shippuden wont start until winter 2009

The ten tails begins to revive in episode 341 of shippuden and naruto tries to stop it in episode 342 of shippuden as it still starts to revive. And finnaly at episode 362 of shippuden at the end it gets revived, sorry for the late response XD.
