No you need a special item. After you beat the elite four, go to the turn back cave. At where giratina was in D/P, there will be a torn world entrance. Enter the portal and get your way anround and you will find an item called a platinum orb. This item allows you to change giratina into its origin forme, as well as raise the power of it's ghost and dragon attacks.
