There was a direct to DVD Titanic II released in 2010 made by The Asylum that premiered on Syfy in the same year, so yes, technically there is a sequel since it uses the same named ship, but it has no relation to James Cameron's movie or the movies that came before. It's simply a disaster movie that takes place on a boat named Titanic II.

Sometimes a sequel can disappoint you because it's not as good as the first and the story is bad(for the sequel). And the fact that Titanic is a true story only the part about the boy and the girl is fiction makes it impossible to have a sequel, unless of course they are portraying a different story of the exact same time.

There will not be a sequel to the movie The Titanic, because it was a classic film, based on real events, which ended with death to many, therefor nothing more was to be happened in real live, then a sequel shall not be made, because there is no more for the story. Also, the movie ends with people dying too.
