The movie the Happening deals with a mass epidemic of people committing suicide randomly. People believe that the suicides are brought on by a bio-terrorist attack but it is revealed throughout the movie that it is actually plants that are releasing a toxin. It is thought that the toxin form the plants target emotions and large groups of people. Near the end of the movie the toxin is likened to red tide by a news reported stating that the epidemic may have only been a warning stating that humans have become a threat and the planet is fighting back. The very end of the movie happens in Paris, France where screams are heard and everyone freezes in place signaling that another attack has taken place.
