Tuck Everlasting is a fantasy children's novel by Natalie Babbitt, Published in 1975, the book explores the concept of immortality and the reasons why it might not be as desirable as it appears. It has sold over two million copies and been called a classic of modern children's literature. It is about an immortal family, the Tucks. They meet and befriend a girl named Winnie. The town's constable, who is looking for a promotion, goes out in search of Winnie with a man in a yellow suit. Upon finding her, he tries to take Winnie against her will, but is killed by Mae Tuck. Mae is caught and is supposed to be executed, but she is unable to be executed because she cannot die except if other immortals do. Winnie saves Mae. The book skips to the preface, in which it is stated that Angus Tuck stood over Winnie's grave 100 years later.
