The most populated regions are the parisian area "Ile de France" (11.74 million inhabitants in 2007, up from 11.67 million in 2006, "Rhône-Alpes" (6.21 million inhabitants up from 6.17 in 2006) and "Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur" (4.944 million up from 4.89 en 2006)
