An average day in France usually starts with a light breakfast. People then head out to work or school. A long lunch takes place in the middle of the day. Most businesses close down for an extended lunch period. Lunch is the largest meal of the day. Then after lunch it is back to work, then home for a light dinner and relaxation.
They vary. Primary (elementary) schools generally work 0800 to 1200 and 1300 to 1600. Secondary schools have much longer hours - typically 0800 to 1800 - but pupils can expect to have up to 3 hours time off during the day. Thursday is a day off for most primary pupils, and a half day in many secondary schools, though these often work Saturday mornings. Holidays, however, are more generaous than in the US.

Lunch is to be taken seated. There is usually a hors d'oeuvres of vegetables, a main meal with some meat or fish with a serving of vegetables, rice, fries, or pasta, then a yogurt or another dessert.
There are longer days than America. They go half a day on Wednesday and used to go on Saturday mornings until the year of 2014.
