The original answer below took the question a little too literally. Jenny and Forest's "special" tree is a Southern Live Oak sometimes referred to as an Angel Oak. The one used in the film (and also in the movie The War) is in Beaufort, South Carolina.

there was no tree in Forest Gump it was the main character played by Tom Hank

It is a live oak. The tree depicted in Forrest Gump is the same as the one depicted The War (1994), starring Kevin Costner. It is located in Beaufort County, South Carolina. See Sources and related links for more information.
