I'll assume you mean cold weather. Proper clothing, sheltering, and logistic support, little of which Hitler or Napoleon had. All of which the Finns had in the Finnish/Russion war. It's also important to differentiate between an army fighting on it's own soil from and invader. As we see in Afganistan a poorly equipped army that knows the terrain, has lived in bad weather condition all their lives has an advantage.

Weather maps can show where storms are located and/or moving. Over time they can help predict weather patterns.

It was hail and rain and there was a thunder storm which killed some of William's troops and made others run in terror
Not entirely sure, but I think they received supplies by truck, although the weather would have made it no easy task. The US troops in Bastogne were surrounded, but they received some supplies by parachute after the weather cleared enough for flying.
terrible! they made children work!
The weather during the Battle of Shiloh was very hot for so early in the year. It made large movements of men miserable. The terrain was a rolling plain that allowed for the massing of large amounts of troops.

It would be better to say, 'When the car hit the tree the impact made a terrible noise,' so that the reader isn't left in any doubt whether it was the car or the tree that made the terrible noise.(It is actually neither one, but the impact that makes the noise.)
Good to start with, before the winter set in. They made good progress and were faced with only poorly equipped opponents. However, their command believed that they would overrun Russia quickly. This did not happen. The war on the Eastern front went on for longer then they planned as result of the Russian resistance and the German command did not make provisions to supply their troops with winter weather clothing. When the first winter came many died from hyperthermia. In addition to the above, when Russia started to overcome the Germans, they encircled many troops in their advance. This led to disease, malnutrition, and terrible conditions.
yes it is.
