What methods of transportation were used in 1835?

well right before the 1850s trains were made, but the trains were really unsafe, deaths were crazy, too skinny tunnels bridges collapsing and head-on crashes. And before that cars were made. (if you want to hear info about everything read on...if not i answered XD) Henry Ford was not the first car creater, i forgot who was. but anyway he created the most efficient car back then. but trains like i said before were unsafe, even the people who made the tracks died. So that's where inventors come in. Eli Janey invented hand connecting cars, they connected the cars so it was less likely for them to separate and crash. George westinghouse invented brakes for every train car. sometimes before him the trains would stop too hard and send the train skidding out of control. These did not adapt fast but eventually Congress voted them on the train. then George Pollman made hotel on wheels. only made for first class folk. if you don't believe me on any of this look it up :P.
