There are two principal gold mining companies in New Zealand, Newmont at Waihi in the Coromandel Peninsula in the North. In the South there is Oceania Gold, with locations at MacRaes in Otago, and Reefton on the West Coast of the South Island.

Both companies produce several tonnes of gold per year.
