I am going to assume you mean the ranch that Charles Manson and his 'family' lived at before and right after the Tate-LaBianca murders. The ranch was an old movie set called Spahn's Movie Ranch. It was located east of L.A. and I can imagine it was no Garden of Eden. Hot and dry beyond belief, but a good place to hide from the law.
The Manson Gang had various hideouts, None were movie sets- though may have been background in Westerns, etc. one was a mining camp ( at one time) and the other was the so-called Spahn ranch used for cattle raising, at one time. neither was used for movie filming except possibly accidentally. Manson and his family did live on a movie set, called Spahn's Movie Ranch. And it was a regular movie set. The owner Spahn was still alive and lived there also. Almost completely blind, in exchange for the family doing chores and the 'girls' taking care of him that got to stay for free.
