The Apollo 11 crew did not stray far from the Lunar Module during their mission. The primary goal of Apollo 11 was not really geology, but proof that the Apollo Spacecraft could perform as needed, namely to land men on the moon and return them safely home. That being said, Neil Armstrong did venture about 200 feet from the LM to peer into a crater.
In 2009, NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter images the A11 landing site. You can still see the tracks left behind by the crew. See the Related Links section below for the LRO website showing the Apollo 11 landing site.

Buzz Aldrin was also on the Moon with Neil Armstrong. Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin were with Neil Armstrong in the Command Module (the CM orbited the moon while the lunar module landed and took off from the lunar surface). Neil Armstrong did not go to the moon by himself.
Neil Armstrong took the route designated for the Apollo 11 mission, which involved launching from Earth, traveling to the Moon, landing on the lunar surface, and then returning safely back to Earth. The journey covered approximately 384,400 kilometers (238,855 miles) each way.
