Your mother is a psychologist so you don't want to get help from a psychologist about your depression what do you do?

Depending on the seriousness of your problems you could go to a school counselor; phone mental health and ask what programs they have to help your situation. If you are 18 years or older then no matter what psychologist you go too it's 'patient, client confidentiality' and the psychologist would not be able to discuss your case with your mother even if your mother asked them.I am guessing it's not as simple for you as finding a confidential situation. If your mother has used her skills to manipulate you, or control you, or emotionally abuse you, then seeing a therapist is going to be scary for you. My advise is to do a good amount of research on choosing a therapist and be sure to get one who doesn't use her skills for her own benefit, but consistently for your benefit. We do exist! I have seen several adult children of therapist mothers who misused their skills on their children and it can be a huge obstacle to getting help.
