No, this is a popular misconception fostered by the Motion Picture ( Tarzan and the Great River) which is a sort of juvenilized African Queen. There were Hippos in this picture and posed a hazard for the Steam Lighter commanded by Jan Murray, good to see in a comedic role. he was transporting a Female Doctor and a kid- Tarzan also an escort to some big-town clinic off the Amazon. The plot was reasonably cogent and might have worked without Tarzan, merely as Saga of the Great River- or Steamlighter Captain in Jungle waters.
