Believe it or not, QVC or HSN (the televised home-shopping companies) offer many different electronics on payment plans. The good thing about these places is that 1. you can order online; 2. your item is shipped to you immediately and you have it before you've finished paying for it (unlike a layaway situation); 3. there's no interest (like through financing); and 4. they don't do credit checks, so your score won't get dinged for an inquiry. There is fine print that says that "easy pay" options are subject to approval, but I've never been denied and my credit score is terrible.
Hope this helps. I've never had anything but great experiences buying electronics through either of these places. There are also warranties, and you can purchase additional full-coverage warranties that are good for several years after your purchase.
