Despite its name, the longest beach in New Zealand is not 90 Mile Beach. It is only 55 miles (88 km) long. New Zealand's longest beach is Ripiro Beach which stretches the 67 miles between Maunganui Bluff to the settlement of Pouto at the mouth of Kaipara Harbour, on the west coast of Northland, near the town of Dargaville.

There are two 'ninety mile beach's in New Zealand, one in the north and one in the south. Whilst the northern one is not 90 miles, it's a catchy name. The southern one is true measure.
