Mohawk hunters used bows and arrows. Mohawk fishermen used spears and fishing poles. In war, Mohawk men used their bows and arrows or fought with clubs, spears and shields. Other important tools used by the Mohawks included stone adzes (hand axes for woodworking), flint knives for skinning animals, and wooden hoes for farming. The Mohawks and other Iroquois were skilled woodworkers, steaming wood so that it could be bent to make curved tools. Some Iroquois artisans still make lacrosse sticks this way today.
The Yui, more correctly called the Ibi, are an extinct tribe living in what is now the US State of Georgia during the 16th and 17th centuries. As such they would have used the same tools as other Native Americans in the region. Because the tribe was destroyed around 1656 during a rebellion against Spain, such details as specific tools they used are not well recorded.
