He had no transportation.
Prince Henry, the Navigator built a school of navigation for sailors. The school taught all types of sailing related pursuits such as cartography, and use of the sextant as well as other equipment. Prince Henry hoped the knowledge would allow them to eventually reach the far east.
yes
I think he uses a compass only in those days.
Modern Historiography has completely collapsed the idea of a Nautical School founded by Henry the Navigator. He did founded one village in the southwest Algarve, Sagres, starting in the 1440's, as a convenient strategic point of assistance to navigators. There's absolutely no objective reference from him or his contemporaries to a nautical school. This legend was probably created in the 1600's and grew in the next two centuries.
Prince Henry the Navigator did not directly invent the caravel but significantly advanced its development during the 15th century. The latest improvements to the caravel included a lighter, more agile design with lateen sails, which allowed for better maneuverability and sailing against the wind. These enhancements made the caravel ideal for exploration along the African coast and beyond, facilitating longer voyages and more efficient navigation. Additionally, the use of a shallow draft enabled access to coastal waters and rivers, expanding exploration possibilities.
