Funny you should ask, I don't think that every person will have the same answer as there are many things that were different in this year. I lived in Florida and this year would mark the beginning of desegregation in the schools. There were still places where white and black water coolers and separate restrooms were present. At the time I never saw anything wrong with it, it was the way I was brought up. I was living a life close to what Opie was portrayed on the Andy Griffith Show. I lived in a small town and there seemed to be a new Elvis movie every month. We played outside climbing trees, building forts, and playing cowboys and Indians. We had a black and white TV that had 3 channels that most of the time worked. When you would turn them off at night there was a spot in the middle of the screen that would stay on for about 5 minutes after it was off. Girls were the last thing on my mind but when I did think of them they were mysterious at 14 we didn't know there was a Baseball game much less that there was a first second and third base. We were raised to love our country and we were scared of the communist also the Cuban dictator who for some reason wanted to blow us all up with some sort of missile. Walter Martin born 1950
