Whether it was actually said by American Indians or not I don't know. But the term was used in some old western movies and shows. It refered to where Indians went when they died. It was supposed to mean heaven. The happy hunting ground was a place where there were plenty of game for the Indian to hunt and it was a happy place.

The clause "the happy clouds scanned the ground beneath them" is an example of the literary device of personification. Personification is the attribution of human form or characteristics to some inanimate thing. In this sentence, inanimate clouds are described as "happy" (a human emotion) and as "scanning the ground" (a human faculty). Clouds of course do not actually feel "happy" or "scan the ground," but the author uses the device of personification to lend a human quality to a scene and to forge a certain mood.

The term "Happy Hunting Ground" is often associated with the region of the Great Plains, particularly in reference to the lands of Native American tribes. However, it is not the official name of any state. The phrase symbolizes a place of abundance and plenty for hunting, often used in the context of Native American beliefs about the afterlife. If you're referring to a specific state, it's likely a metaphorical expression rather than a literal name.

Check your map using the M key, find a shaded hunting ground, and head towards it. When you arrive in the hunting ground, use the V key to sniff out a purple trail and find the elk. Then its just a matter of running (Q key) after an elk and attacking (left click or space bar) when you get near. After enough attacks, the elk will die and you can eat. Happy hunting!
You did not say which Indians- there is no one Indian language, and no one word for hunting. Cherokee and Apache are entirely different languages.
