The James Bay Hydroelectric Project is a government hydroelectricity project that generates around 24,000 megawatts of electricity. It also takes up around 350,000km2 of Quebec's land. The building process consisted of three phases and only two of these three phases were completed. The third phase was put on hold and is still on hold till this day because of concerns on the ecological impact of the third phase of the project.
It floods
The body of water that joins Hudson Bay on the South is James Bay.
James bay as well as Hudson's bay are both salty, but not quite as salty as The Atlantic or Pacific Oceans.
James Bay is in Vancouver which is the Western most province in Canada. There are no provinces west of James Bay. There is also a James Bay in Ontario and New Brunswick. Probably more.
James Bay
It floods
The effects of James Bay primarily stem from hydroelectric development in the region, particularly the construction of the James Bay Project in the 1970s. This large-scale project led to significant alterations in the local ecosystem, including changes in water flow, impacts on wildlife habitats, and displacement of Indigenous communities. Additionally, the flooding of vast areas for reservoirs contributed to environmental and social challenges, highlighting the complex interplay between energy needs and ecological preservation.
it was created because the project was best for Quebec.
River Mill Hydroelectric Project was created in 1911.
