Don"t know if this will help, but there was either a radio or Tv show dating to l954 in the New York Area called Speaking My Language ( My in Italics or large type). The gist of the show was Spanish-language instruction- well literally on the Rapid Transit mode.The fast pacing of a simulated subway run met the speed drill requirement without inducing boredom ( I would imagine Watch the Closing doors was enunciated in Spanish!) The program was not popular with all.. and probably closed down after a relatively short run. It was later done in book and tape form under the heading of Speaking My Language. the popular phrase for such programming was , what else- Subway Spanish. Hope this is of some help.
