Abby matched the balistics to Gibbs sniper rifle. At the end of the episode borderland, we see Abby asking gibbs whether or not to send the report and pursue the case, and asking if he'll still love her if she does. In the end, Gibbs tells her to do her job and we later learn that she did and sent the report however it was stopped by M. Alison Hart which allowed gibbs to keep his job. The other copy of the file was buried in the NCIS evidence storage by Director Vance.
